Could be many reasons why there has been a delay. If there is asbestos or other toxic stuff in the building then they must proceed with caution. There has been drainage problems with the site too. It is an eyesore due to the neglect and abandonment by the owners. Even adequate fencing has not even been put round the site to date, with problems of fly tipping etc arising accordingly . This is what happens when planning permission is given the go ahead in inaappropriate circumstances. The site could have been sold long ago as a traditional pub, home, with planning permission. Sadly the planning committee made a wrong decision for the area and we can all see the consequences as a result. If it had been refused in the first place none of this fallout would have arose. However, SBC not revealing the TRUE reason why the decision is still pending is typical in how the community has been left in the dark.
We could all predict this would happen when planning permission was granted them. The site would become the mess that the community so very much wanted to avoid. The building in it's derelict state is now becoming a hazard to the area. Who cares at SBC? A few years ago it was an attractive traditional pub. It's outrageous that the site has been allowed to become such a wasteland. The owners should have have sold it on.When planning permission runs out it will be a worthless piece of wasteland then.
Thanks for your comments, all very pertinent as usual. You may be interested in the latest pronouncement by Nick Boles, the Planning Minister, about obliging developers to reapply for planning permission if development hasn't started within a certain period of time. Take a look at the latest post.
SBC...As unhelpful as ever.
