Happy new year everyone! We aren't sure what it will bring in terms of the pub but let's hope, whatever happens, it's in the best interests of the community.
ABOUT THIS BLOG
This popular and historic pub was acquired by its owners in 2009 with a view, initially, to building flats for social housing and then subsequently developing a small housing estate. Local residents opposed these plans from the start.
Planning permission was granted in 2010 after which the site was put up for sale. After many years of inactivity, building work finally started in July 2015. Locally, this was seen as good news. However, the houses have yet to be completed.
The aim of this Blog has been to keep residents informed of current developments and to record the long history of this small community's fight to keep its pub.Monday, 7 January 2013

At last it appears in Butters advertising at £595k.......they will surely be lucky,£85k a plot, dream on in this market !
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Littletons paid 120K for the land that those big houses are on in Sunningdale View. I would expect the George and Dragon land is worth about 300K if that.
ReplyDeleteFly tipping, yet again, on the site, creating more of an eyesore and encouraging vermin. This is an ongoing problem for Rough Close. It is not simply going to stop unless preventative measures are taken. Surely the site should be fenced off properly until building work begins.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, of course. We've been in touch with the Parish Council who are taking action to clear it. We've also pointed out to them that health and safety at the site is a major consideration and should remain the responsibility of the owners.
