Curious & Curiouser

You may have seen the article in tonight's Sentinel reporting that Milwood Ltd. no longer intend to develop the pub site.  The article, however, does not say what the company plan to do with it.  We have written to the Milwood representative who contacted The Blog back in June and will let you know as soon as we hear something.

In the meantime, if you are able to shed any further light on the situation please get in touch.

  1. Very interesting,I have just caught up with the news.I see from the Sentinel site that the Milwood MD said "We look at sites to develop in the S o T area and we were THINKING about buying the site but for various reasons we didn`t submit the planning permission"

Now this may not be a literal publication of what he actually said by the Sentinel but it at least infers that they have not bought the site.
In the earlier blog submission nowhere is ownership mentioned.

Do they actually own the G&D site at all or was the intention to seek planning permission (and its approval) a preliminary to purchase which has now fallen through ?

  2. We're just as much in the dark as you are about this one. The earlier story in the Sentinel refers to Milwood as the "new owners" and the email from them (shown on The Blog) states that they intend to submit a new planning application. Would they do this if they didn't own the property already? Strange.

  3. Interestingly, over a pub conversation I heard that indeed "developers" do seek/apply for planning permission on property that they do not (yet) own in order to check out potential.
It wouldn`t have occurred to me that this was feasible or common but apparently it happens regularly.
If the response looks good to them they consider purchase,if not they walk away.
Possibly the latter occurred in this case ?
