We are proud to announce the arrival of The Voice of Rough Close! A new web site dedicated to preserving what's left of our precious community.
Given the events of the past 18 months, it has become clear that our village needs to be cherished. If we residents don't, it is very clear that no one else will.
So here it is. You can click on the post title or simply go to www.roughclose.org. Kindly note that the site is still under construction. Not all the facilities are functional yet and you may encounter the odd glitch here and there but we didn't want to wait.
This does not mark the end of the road for The Blog. It will remain online for as long we are around. And there will be the occasional update. As we said earlier, The Blog is a testament to the hard work of a few dedicated souls and the support of the local and wider community in opposing the property speculators.
Thanks very much for providing this Blog as a record of the unfoldment of the fight to save the George and Dragon Pub, put forward by those who really cared about the future of Rough Close. The Voices of Rough Close were united on the matter of this planning application. We were ignored by the Applicant and most importantly ignored by those Councillors who were supposed to represent this community's best interests. The final outrageous, Planning Committee's decision ultimately imposed on this small community will not be forgotten. Who do the Councillors represent is the question Rough Close knows the answer to? Thanks to this Blog for ensuring that there remains a living remembrance for all to see. "The Voice Of Rough Close" is a very appropriate name for the new website! I agree,we need to ensure that the little left in our community is preserved, knowing that we cannot rely on the Councillors to do the right thing!
