ABOUT THIS BLOG
This popular and historic pub was acquired by its owners in 2009 with a view, initially, to building flats for social housing and then subsequently developing a small housing estate. Local residents opposed these plans from the start.
Planning permission was granted in 2010 after which the site was put up for sale. After many years of inactivity, building work finally started in July 2015. Locally, this was seen as good news. However, the houses have yet to be completed.
The aim of this Blog has been to keep residents informed of current developments and to record the long history of this small community's fight to keep its pub.Monday, 31 May 2010

I saw that smoke coming out of the chimney just when driving past. The pub inside is an empty shell so who would want a coal fire in there? Also, wouldn't it be a coincidence if a burning ember accidently fell from the unnattended fire, setting the place ablaze??
ReplyDeleteHaving read the emotional mails to SBC contained in the portal document pack (from 27th May) where the poor Davis`s keep reminding SBC that every days delay is costing them money through their financiers nothing would surprise me.
ReplyDeleteCould the smoke be symbolic of all their money going up in flames or (we live and hope) like the smoke from the Vatican chimney when a Papal announcement is due ?
