Well, it looks like the owners are responding to our objections by getting their mates to send in letters in favour of the planning proposals!! Just one liners stating that they are in favour. Nothing more than that and nothing approaching a reasoned argument. Whether these empty letters will cut any ice with the planning committee remains to be seen. And of course, none of them is from Rough Close let alone the area near to the pub. There again, will the planning committee take any notice of that?
Our advice, therefore, is to continue writing in, even though the deadline has passed.
I was speaking to someone who works at S-O-T council about these letters and it seems that the Davis's will have done themselves more harm than good.
ReplyDeleteThere are about 25 letters, all exactly the same, signed by different people. This is basically a petition with 25 signatures. Wow. A bit less than the opposal petition with over 600 signatures.
Councillors are aware of this sneaky tactic and I can't imagine they like people trying to pull the wool over their eyes. I'm afraid the owners have made yet another mistake.
I will be writing to the council in case they haven't noticed this latest underhanded trick.
Thanks for the tip. Do let us know if you get a reply from the council!
